See details on the June Movie Premieres below...

The Wedding Ring

Original Air Date: June 6, 2021

Starring: Lauren Lee Smith and Dillon Casey

Story-line via UPtv: Kate Sterling’s entire life is about proposals. As a jewelry designer she’s created rings for more happy couples than she can count, however none for herself yet. At her sister’s marriage, Kate is given a second change to connect with her childhood sweetheart. Now she has to decide whether their feelings have changed, or if the wedding will re-kindle the sparks that once united them; giving Kate the ring she’s been waiting for her whole life!

Reviews:

💕 "The Wedding Ring was cute. I liked the new-to-me actors. Twelve days later and my soon-to-be-geriatric brain can't really remember any details from the movie - oops! But I'm pretty sure it was family friendly." ~~Jane

💕 "The Wedding Ring – This movie is lighthearted and family-friendly. The characters acted a bit silly, at times, but nothing too outlandish. Kate Sterling portrays a wedding ring/jewelry designer who owns her own shop, but she is offered a new job in the city where an old love interest currently lives. As they start to rekindle their relationship, Kate is torn between her career decision. Much of the movie is spent wondering – will she stay or will she go? It’s a lighthearted story overall. I enjoyed the flashbacks from their childhood and there is a satisfying, happy ending." ~Net

The Perfect Wedding Match

Original Air Date: June 13, 2021

Starring: Jenna Michno and Tyler Courtad

Story-line via UPtv: Programmer for the ‘Plus Ones’ matchmaking app Maisie Jacobs is single and dateless for her little sister Ali’s wedding. Keen to avoid her family’s questions, Maisie uses the app to find her own plus one – but is sent the only person she would never date! Could the mix-up be her chance for true love?

Reviews:

💕 "The Perfect Wedding Match. Um. Um. Ummm. This movie. It was kind of cute and, yet, kind of cringeworthy. For me, it was like a train wreck that you just can't look away from. Several times I almost quit watching, but it was such a bizarre mess that I was kind of mesmerized to see if it would be like that all the way through. The characters and their dialogue and the situations they would be in were so over-the-top and sometimes ridiculous that I wondered if the directors were purposefully going for a parody type movie. I'm still not sure?? I kind of enjoyed seeing new-to-me actors and I actually think most of them did a really good job, I think they did exactly what the script or director told them to do, which would make them pretty good actors to pull off this parody style of movie (if that's what they were going for??). I wouldn't necessarily advise anyone to NOT watch it, but just know that if the over-the-top, silly stuff is kind of annoying you, it is not going to get any different as the movie goes on. Basically family friendly but there is one goofy relative that hides bottles of wine that they get out to drink and there were one or two vague comments implying that unmarried couples should travel together to see if they really get along well enough to get married or some such nonsense like that." ~~Jane

💕 "The Perfect Wedding Match – This movie was, indeed, something… the characters acted a bit wacky, at times. The overall flow was fine, but it lacked depth. Maisie needs a plus one for her sister’s wedding and ends up using a match through her own app. Of course, it ends up being someone Maisie knows and already has preconceived feelings of not liking. The movie was mostly family friendly, except for a few issues, such as: the hiding of wine bottles and a little adult dialogue. Overall, I thought there was very little romantic chemistry between any of the couples, and I found myself losing interest as I watched." ~Net

A Whirlwind Wedding

Original Air Date: June 27, 2021

Starring: Morgan Kohan and Drew Nelson

Story-line via UPtv: Cassie, a talented event planner returns to her home town to plan her mother’s wedding. She’s having trouble accepting her stepfather-to-be and quickly Cassie’s obsession with perfection begins to clash with her mother’s wishes for a low-key celebration —especially when it comes to handsome and charming Kyle, the chef Cassie deems inadequate for catering the event. But as complications arise—both personal and professional—it’s Kyle who is able to help her pull off the big day and help her find the love she’s been looking for…

Review:

💕 "A Whirlwind Wedding. Cute. Formulaic. Sweet. A bit awkward in places. Lovely barn wedding set. For me, it was nice for a one-time watch but not a keeper; I think most folks here will enjoy the movie. Family friendly except for in the very beginning the lead actress and her friend are both talking about taking the next step with their respective boyfriends by moving in with them; it's a brief scene but it's definitely talked about." ~~Jane

💕 "A Whirlwind Wedding – The romance in this movie is somewhat slow, at first; however, it’s still very sweet to watch it build. I enjoyed seeing Morgan Kohan again (Lillian, from "When Hope Calls") and her mother, portrayed by actress, Laura Soltis, is recognizable from a number of Hallmark movies – notably in "Five Star Christmas," "Karen Kingsbury's Maggie's Christmas Miracle," "Framed for Murder: A Fixer Upper Mystery," and many others. One caution is when Cassie mentions to her friend her relationship plan to move in one day with her boyfriend. That brief comment was unnecessary to the rest of the story. It was fun, however, to watch Cassie (Kohan) plan her mother’s wedding in just a few days with the help of a local caterer, Kyle Billings, who is also handy with woodworking and construction. It's obvious Kyle and Cassie understand each other and bring out the best in one another – while they are creating the wedding space together in a country barn and trying to rediscover where their passion truly is with their work. Cassie’s current boyfriend is the type who is self-absorbed with his career, until he fears losing Cassie and makes a grand gesture. The country barn decorated with beautiful flowers and party lights for the wedding is beautiful! Plus, the outdoor wedding ceremony was also lovely, but it was quite odd how far the wedding couple stood apart and no kiss was ever shown. (I’m sure this was corona virus related, but the couple could have, at least, stood a little closer. They were nearer to each other in other scenes and later on - on the dance floor, so it was quite odd the distance they stood apart for the actual wedding.) After the wedding is successfully over, Cassie eventually discovers where her heart truly belongs. This is a family friendly, delightful movie; it is my top pick of UPtv’s June Groom movie offerings." ~Net

💕 "A Whirlwind Wedding A hidden gem - I absolutely loved this. Now there's absolutely nothing new to it - a typical "Hallmark-type" movie which we've seen many times before - it's not even fast paced and the romance is slow to develop because of Cassie having a boyfriend in the background but Morgan Kohan and Drew Nelson make a perfect couple, there's sparks at the beginning as they disagree on the menu for her mother's upcoming wedding but come to an understanding not just on this but Kyle comes to her assistance on fixing up the venue. In fact at their first accidental meeting at a restaurant as Cassie is on her way home you can literally feel a frisson between them. The banter between Cassie and Kyle is enthralling and I love the way their relationship deepens. At one stage when Kyle misunderstood a situation which devastated him I could feel myself tearing up. Cassie's mother and her future husband and Kyle's partner and brother are all excellent in the secondary roles. One quibble I did have was that both the inside of Kyle's cafe and at the beginning the barn where they decided to hold the reception were very dark and I found the photography quite gloomy at times. It's always lovely when something you're not expecting a lot from comes up trumps but something about this movie just touched a sweet spot in me. One of my favourite movies this year. Interestingly both the lead actors appeared just a few months previously in a movie called A Romance Wedding and there are some similarities in the plot - at first I thought it must be the same movie under a working title but not so - I just wish UPtv would give it an airing" - Florence

Hope you enjoyed this movie information. I was most looking forward to seeing Morgan Kohan (from When Hope Calls) in A Whirlwind Wedding and after watching it, I must tell you - this family friendly, delightful movie was my top pick of UPtv’s June Groom movie offerings. Something about that poster and that country barn decorated with beautiful flowers and party lights - just drew me right in!

What do you think? Which movie are you looking forward to?
