In 1842, Edgar Allan Poe wrote a short story about a prisoner who was tormented, tortured, and trapped by members of the Spanish Inquisition. His story was called, ‘The Pit and the Pendulum’, and it was so well-received, that it’s now been adapted into a comic book.
